Thank you so much for putting information up about the Avon Walk! This is such a huge event in Washington, DC that makes a big difference. Last year we raised $7.5 million and the majority of that goes to beneficiaries right in our area. If you can't walk, crew, or volunteer come out and cheer on the participants during the weekend or at Closing Ceremonies at the site of the Old Convention Center. Thank you again!

If any Bars, Clubs, Restaurants, or Individuals need temporary fence or pedestrian barricades to secure there Mardi Gras festival or party or to help enclose your outdoor smoking areas, or to comply with the Alcohol Enforement policies please call 301-779-6603 and ask for Paul. I would be happy to help get something setup for your event.

Thanks,

Hello,

I saw you had a post on the revised meter rates for DC announced last week.
http://dcinsider.wordpress.com/2008/01/16/new-dc-taxi-policies-revised/

You might like the following mashup which I just published at The Washington Post. If you do, feel free to promote it!

District Taxi Fare Estimator
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/metro/interactives/taxifares/
with vanity URL
http://www.washingtonpost.com/taxifares/

The mashup fully integrates to & from geocoding with routing, automatic map scaling and zooming, normal-satellite mode changes, zoom tos, reverse directions, evaluates which thematic polygon the to & from points are in (taxi zone) and the distance between them, draws the route, and calculates fares based on this information and presents them to the user to evaluate which proposed taxi system would be best for their pocketbook.

(from the intro to the graphic)
The estimator will help you determine if your cab fare in the District will cost more or less under the time and distance meters, which are scheduled to replace zones in April. You may choose one of our sample routes, or try your own by entering starting and destination addresses, or by dragging the green and red map markers. Remember, these are estimates. Actual fares will vary, depending upon how much time is spent stopped or slowed in congested traffic.

Enjoy,
